Letter to My Congressthings:

Dear Congressman:
For some time, there has been resistance to the "troop surge" in Iraq. First, some thought that it was a foregone conclusion that the surge would fail. It is now commonly known that that is not what will be reported by General Petraeus in his upcoming visit. Now, the argument is that, while military progress is being made, there has been no political progress.
Five days ago, a member of a Concerned Citizens Group in Al'Arafia gave his life to save four American servicemen from a suicide bomber. I would remind the Congress that in a democracy, the people are the significant political currency.
It would seem that more political progress has been made in Iraq that has been made here in the last few months.
